File Sharing and P2P applications allow users to exchange files over the internet. These programs have many different names including: Napster, Kazaa, BearShare, Morpheus, LimeWire, Ares, and AudioGalaxy. If you make your files accessible to other people on the Internet for downloading, you are taking away bandwidth from legitimate uses, at no benefit to anyone at the college. Please turn off the upload capabilities of your P2P application(s), or remove the application(s) from your computer. In many P2P applications, you can disable the server portion of the program by either disabling uploads, or setting uploads to zero. You are responsible for the software installed on your computer and how it is used. If you use this type of program, be aware that downloading copyrighted content that you have not purchased is against the law. We recommend disabling the sharing of your own files while using these file sharing networks. For basic information on how to do this for several different applications, please see these instructions.
